Transition Year Students preparing for Spring

The luckiest group of Transition Year Horticulture students enjoyed another sun-filled class outdoors, working in perfect weather. Today, they had the important task of planting some of Homelands’ finest tulips and daffodils in pots.

As they carefully layered the bulbs, they practiced essential numeracy skills, ensuring each one was placed at the correct depth. This hands-on experience not only sharpened their math abilities but also introduced them to the magic of spring bulbs—how they lie dormant in winter and burst into vibrant life when spring arrives.

The students embraced the opportunity to learn, with the warm sun and fresh air making the experience all the more rewarding. Soon enough, their efforts will blossom into a beautiful display of flowers, brightening up the school grounds and reminding them of the wonders of nature all the while providing food for the bees.
