Third place, first-class achievement!
Third place, first-class achievement!
It was not to be for our incredibly talented junior basketball team as they were defeated in their All-Ireland semi-final by a strong and experienced Heywood Community School, Co. Laois, who went on to win the final.
The girls fought so bravely, led by their captain Rebecca Brett, and put it up to their opponents with everything they had. They can have no regrets and should be super proud of their achievement in reaching the last 4 of the B Division League.
What makes this achievement more spectacular is 11 out of 12 of these players have only started playing basketball in their first year of school in St. Nathy’s, and have blown teams away made up of club basketball players on their way to the semi finals.
We are so proud of their achievements, and this will be a wonderful learning experience for all involved. Onwards and upwards!
Thanks to Mr. Mulderrig and support from Niall Freeman and TY students Ruth Brett and Ava McGreal for coaching the girls throughout the year.
A special thanks to all parents and supporters who travelled to Tallaght to support the girls.
