St. Nathy’s College Gears Up for Another Theatrical Triumph: “Illegally Blonde” is on the Way!
Excitement is in the air as our enthusiastic TY cohort get ready to shine with another Musical. Following the success of last year’s spectacular “Mama Mia, Papa Mia!”—which packed the PE Hall to capacity for three consecutive nights—this year’s TY students are ready to pick up the gauntlet and take the stage by storm to bring Broadway to Ballaghadreen with their own rendition of Illegally Blonde. Preparations are well underway, and the atmosphere is positively buzzing as the cast and crew bring this ambitious production to life.
This year’s TY students know they have a tough act to follow. “Mama Mia, Papa Mia!” set the bar high. It’s not every day that a school musical draws such crowds, but the talented cast and dedicated crew last year truly set a new standard for what is possible at St. Nathy’s with our maiden musical. Determined to meet—and exceed—those high expectations, this year’s cast and crew are reaching for the stars, and are promising to make Illegally Blonde even bigger, bolder, and more dazzling than ever.
Congratulations to all those who have successfully secured roles in the cast so far! The talent that emerged from the auditions was truly impressive, and we are eager to see these talented students take on this project. There is a job for everyone, and everyone will have a job, we need ‘all hands on deck’. The cast so far is the following, but there will be many many roles including dancers, singers, raffle organisers, ticket sellers, make up etc

The preparations have already begun in earnest. The PE Hall is buzzing with activity under the watchful eye of our very talented Director Mr. Peter McLoughlin. Stage construction is well underway, with crew members busily cutting, sawing, and drilling to build a set that will capture the lively and colorful world of Illegally Blonde. The hall is filled with the sounds of singing, dancing, and laughter. With so much dedication on display, there’s no doubt that the students will pull it off.
This year we are delighted to welcome Ms. Stack to the Musical team as Music Director. She is an All- Ireland Fleadh winner and has a Diploma in Musical theatre. She has a wealth of experience and is delighted to be involved with the wonderful group of Transition year students. Already she has her choir in place and the hall is ringing with some magical musical numbers from the show.
The script, filled with witty dialogue (and from what I heard today, it is indeed very witty) and catchy songs, will not only entertain but also inspire both the cast and the audience alike.
Make sure to mark your calendars for next March, when Illegally Blonde will take to the stage! Keep an eye out for more details in the coming months about tickets, showtimes, and the full cast list. With the momentum building, it’s shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated events in St. Nathy’s.
So, watch this space and keep your diaries free. The countdown to Illegally Blonde has officially begun, and if the energy in the PE Hall is anything to go by, Ballaghaderreen is in for a theatrical experience like no other. Get ready to be wowed!
More details to follow very soon. Stay tuned in, follow our socials and talk to any of our fantastic TY students, then prepare to be dazzled!
