Sports Day 2025-What a dayin glorious sunshine!

Sports Day 2025 – in the SunshineĀ

What a spectacular day was had last Friday by all in St. Nathy’s. Our Sports Day was nothing short of a roaring success, filled with plenty of laughter, teamwork, friendly rivalry, and unforgettable moments under glorious sunshine. The school pitch was transformed into twoĀ zones, each offering a unique set of challenges and excitement for students.Ā

Zone 1 brought out the best in balance, coordination, and laughter, with a lineup of much-loved traditional races. Students gave it their all in:Ā

  • 3-Legged Race – Testing both rhythm and partnership!Ā
  • Wheelbarrow Race – A true test of trust and upper body strength.Ā
  • ļø Piggy Back Race – Lifting spirits and teammates, quite literally!Ā
  • Ā Potato and Spoon Race – A battle of poise and nerves.Ā
  • Ā Sack Race – Hopping into fun and friendly competition.Ā

In zone 2, the focus shifted to teamwork and collaboration. Working in their class groups and as teams, students navigated through a range of more physically and mentally engaging challenges:Ā

  • Stepping Stones – A test of coordination and planning.Ā
  • Pipeline Team Relay – Precision and timing were key.Ā
  • Ā Tug of War – Strength, grit, and loud encouragement all round.Ā
  • Ā Dodgeball – Dodging, diving, and lots of adrenaline!Ā
  • Ā Slip and Slide Relay Race – A wet and wild finale that had everyone laughing.Ā

This final water-based event was perfectly timed so that both cohorts could cool off, clean up, and change in time for the grand spectacle of the day… The Grande Finale: The Teachers vs. Students Soccer MatchĀ

As anticipation built throughout the day, all eyes turned to the pitch for the much-anticipated Teachers vs. Students Soccer Match. While our students clearly showed skill, speed, and determination that would rival any pro squad, the teachers proved that experience and tactics still reign supreme.Ā

It was a spirited match, full of close calls, bold tackles, and high-energy plays. The Teachers held strong and reminded everyone that with age comes not just wisdom, but serious footwork! The students fought valiantly and made their school friends proud.Ā

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication and behind-the-scenes work of our incredible staff. A very special Thank You to all teachers who helped, especially Mr. Mulderrig & Mr. Igoe – Not just our fantastic PE Teachers but also sporting legends on the day.Ā  A big Thank You to Mr. Dolan, Mr. Curran & Mr. Carmody for all the organising. Thank you to “Kevin’s Ice-cream van” for keeping almost 700 students topped up with delicious ice-cream. Finally, fair play to all the teachers who literally risked life and limb to make the match such an exciting finale.Ā
