Improving Homework Engagement Through Innovation
Well done to the six members of our staff — Mr. Creaton, Ms. Conlon, Mr. Brady, Ms. Fitzpatrick, Ms. Mooney and Ms. Garvey — who carried out an action research project in collaboration with Carrick-on-Shannon Education Centre, the Education Support Centres of Ireland (ESCI), and the Teachers’ Research Exchange (TREX).
The focus of the project was to improve student engagement with homework by providing differentiated tasks, ensuring that work was aligned to all ability levels within the class.
Mr. Creaton was one of the project leads, and he accompanied Ms. Garvey to Portlaoise last week to attend a shared learning showcase. Schools involved in this initiative from across the country gathered to share their individual projects and findings.
