U19 Girls Basketball Match
On Friday the 15th of November, St. Nathy’s u19 girls travelled to Glanamaddy C.S to play their next league game. The girls were unbeaten up until this game in the league. Throw in was at 10.30 a.m and the first quarter proved to be neck to neck with scores coming from Aoibheann Durkin and Rebecca Finan. At the end of the first quarter, Nathy’s were leading 7-6.
At the start of the second quarter, Glenamaddy scored six quick points. Nathy’s hope was revived when Jean and Ellen Flanagan responded with a basket each. This brought the difference back to two points. The second quarter finished 16-11 to Glenamaddy.
At the start of the third quarter, things were looking good when Nathy’s got the first basket to go three points ahead. The game went downhill after that as Glenamaddy scored 13 points without any response. At the end of the third quarter, Glenamaddy led by 29 points to Nathy’s 13 points.
In the fourth quarter , both teams defended very well only conceding two baskets each. Realistically, the game was won in the third quarter.
The final score was 33-16 to Glenamaddy and Nathy’s girls suffered their first lost in the league.
