U14 Gaelic match report

On Thursday the 25th of January our First and Second year girls played their second league game after
defeating Swinford by 4 goals and 12 points on their home pitch in the previous week. They headed
to Foxford for their second game hoping for another great win.
The girls had a rough start as they tried to keep up with a very quick and strong Foxford side. The
backs tried their best but unfortunately Foxford managed to score some goals against the girls, but
there were also some brilliant saves from goal keeper Meabh Lavin and very powerful kick outs too. They managed to get a few goals and points in the first half but it wasn’t enough to catch up to Foxford and went into the second half behind by 6 points. The Half time score was 3-5 to 2-8
The girls came back strong in the second half with an excellent goal from Saerlaith Dillon straight away from a free. This gave the girls a great confidence boost and they continued to battle getting
more points and more goals but Foxford were keeping up with them as well. It was neck and neck
towards the end but unfortunately Foxford pulled away with a two point lead. The girls will play their
next game after the mid term break.

Many thanks to all in the school community who nominated St Nathy’s in Lidl and collected points towards new jerseys. We were able to get two new sets of jerseys. Thanks to the LGFA and Lidl for organising this.
