TY trip to Shannon Adventure Centre
On Monday the 8th of September, our TYs went on a bonding trip to the Shannon Adventure Centre in Rooskey, Co. Roscommon. They had an early start, leaving the school at 8:45. Upon arrival, students rid of their school attire and changed into wetsuits.
After a few instructions our TYs embraced the opportunity and had a go at ‘pier jumping’ and from what the photos show, they had plenty of fun! They participated in many other water-based activities, such as kayaking and a mud slide!
They also took part in rock climbing, archery, and an obstacle course. They discovered new skills that they never knew they had. These activities encouraged teamwork and cooperation.
Some students decided to challenge themselves during the rock climbing activity by wearing a blindfold and trusting their classmates to guide them the right way. After conquering the obstacle course solo, the students then had to link arms and complete it together, showing great teamwork.
Students showed friendship and bonding, making new connections and strengthening existing ones. They returned to school ready to face the year ahead with their new sense of friendship and comradery.
