TY Fashion Show……a ‘runway’ success
A great night’s entertainment was had by all on Thursday the 20th April. There were many weeks of planning and preparation that led up to this night. We were delighted to see so many staff, students, past and present, along with friends and family in attendance. TY student Eva Higgins was the compere for the evening which was a wonderful mix of fashion and music. The theme of the evening was sustainability with all the clothes sourced locally in charity shops or from sustainable sources. The fashion show was broken into a variety of sections ranging from Spring/Summer wear, sportswear, evening wear finishing up with Junk Koture. This section highlighted the wonderful creativity and imagination of our students in upcycling everyday materials many of which would otherwise have ended up in landfill to create some truly wonderful costumes.
There was a musical intermission between each fashion segment where students from 1st year to leaving cert entertained the audience with everything from traditional Irish music, Sean nós dancing, singing and piano recitals. This highlighted the wonderful musical talent of our students.
The evening was concluded with a raffle which would not have been possible without the generous donations of our sponsors.
Sincere thanks must go to the TY coordinator Ms Staunton and all of the teachers involved in the preparation of the event. To the music teachers Ms Sheridan & Ms Kielty and all who helped on the door on the night.
