TY Enterprise-Christmas markets in St. Nathy’s. Day number one.

In the busy countdown to Christmas, our ‘Above Study Hall’ was today transformed into a winter wonderland as the TY Enterprise mini companies launched their annual Christmas Markets. The ‘Above Study Hall’ which is normally a place of quiet study became a vibrant marketplace filled with laughter, craic and excitement as students got to do some Christmas shopping.  From the scent of freshly baked goods to the myriad of handmade wooden ornaments, the market offered some escapism from the usual school routine.

Intricate wooden ornaments adorned many stalls. Crafted with precision and care, these ornaments ranged from delicately carved coasters, candle logs, Christmas tree decorations, and even dog collar pendants! Yes, definitely a most ‘Pawsitively’ delightful find.

In the far corner of the hall, one could peruse through poetry books or a rainbow of crocheted scrunchies and accessories.  Beside this was a selection of baked goods and treats that delighted the senses. From cookies (both baked and ‘ready to bake’) to chocolates there was an array of sugary delights to cater for every tooth.

Earring enthusiasts found their paradise at a stall offering an eclectic collection of handcrafted pieces. This one deserves a special mention as half of all profits are going to our local ‘Furry Friends animal sanctuary’.  Another stall boasted ‘Ballaghaderreen Calendars’ by local artists.   Each page is a canvas showcasing the talent of local artists. These calendars are not just functional, they are pieces of art!

Over the course of today and tomorrow most Students will have the opportunity to go to the Christmas Markets in class groups.

Mirror guards, beanie hats, mugs, decorations and Christmas candles were just a few of the additional delights that awaited shoppers today. There is a huge variety that ensures that there is something for everyone. We would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this event take place, especially the Enterprise teachers, Ms. Munnelly, Ms. Hughes and Ms. McHale for their guidance and support.

As the first day of the Christmas Markets was such a success, we are opening them to all parents /guardians, friends and family tomorrow afternoon.  Bring plenty of money as our vendors are very persuasive! There is also a huge hamper which will be raffled off tomorrow (Thursday).  Get a free ticket with every purchase. Good luck!
