Leaving Certificate Geographical Investigation

On Tuesday, the 1st of October our Leaving Certificate Geography students under the guidance of their teachers, Mr. Curley, Mr. Curran and Ms. Brunker completed their Geographical Investigation. The Geographical Investigation is worth 20% of their overall grade in this subject.

The title of the investigation is “A study of how the geomorphic processes of transportation and deposition impact the development of landforms in a coastal environment.”

The investigation was conducted at Carrowhubbuck.

Now that the fieldwork is complete, the students will turn their attention to preparing their reporting booklets, which detail their findings and observations. These booklets will be submitted digitally through the Schools Portal and forwarded to the State Examinations Commission (SEC). Alongside their written examination, the investigation will be graded as part of the overall Leaving Certificate Geography assessment.

This practical experience not only enhances their understanding of key geographical concepts but also contributes significantly to their final examination results.
