Geography Field Trip
6th Year Geography Field Trip – Carrowhubbock beside Enniscrone Beach
On Monday last, our 6th-year Leaving Cert Geography students embarked on a memorable field trip to Carrowhubbock beside Enniscrone Beach in County Sligo. This hands-on fieldwork is a vital part of their project work for the upcoming Leaving Cert exam, providing students with the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world geography.
Located on the stunning Atlantic coast, Carrowhubbock offered the perfect setting for a comprehensive study of coastal environments. The students investigated coastal processes of erosion and coastal features such as the wave-cut platform and the cliff while taking detailed measurements and observations for their projects.
Guided by their teachers Mr Curley and Ms Brunker students also gained valuable insights into the delicate balance between environmental conservation and development in coastal regions. The trip was both educational and enjoyable, giving students a chance to work together, engage with their subject in a practical setting, and deepen their understanding of coastal geography.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising this field trip, and to the students for their enthusiasm.
