Garda Youth Award
Katie Flannery, a current Leaving Cert, and former TY student of St.Nathy’s, was nominated for the Garda Young Person Award Roscommon/Longford. Her work involved raising money for Croí with her family by holding a coffee morning at their house. They raised €3810 on their first year and have more recently raised over €4000. Other fundraisers she took part in was a green way cycle, raising money for her sister to go to Uganda to help a school and its students over there. She sang with others in the Clash of the Clubs to raise money for local GAA clubs and her own club Eire Og. Katie also took part in the young SVP Programme.
Katie completed many courses in TY such as the Foroige Leadership for Life Course where she learnt all about how to be a good leader, she is also a lifeguard. She achieved the Gaisce bronze award, which involves among other commitments, volunteering in the community, food shopping during covid-19 for the elderly, who could not get out to complete this task themselves. Due to Katie’s commitment to serving others, she was nominated by Ms Staunton for the Garda Youth Award.
