On 18th May some students from St. Nathy’s College had an early start as they boarded a bus to Athlone for the Connacht Finals of the Irish Schools Track and Field Championship.

In order to qualify for this final the students had to take part in a regional event that was held in ATU Sligo on the 21st April.

St. Nathy’s had 21 students who qualified for the finals and they all performed very  well despite the baking hot conditions trackside.

We had three students who won Connacht Titles on the day, who will now represent the school in the All- Ireland Finals at the start of June.

Mila Clancy won the Intermediate Girls Long Jump with a leap of 5 m 30cm. Jack Dodd won the Senior Boys Steeplechase  and Grace Henry won BOTH the Junior Girls Shot and Junior Girls Discus.

Well done to all students involved and their coaches Ms. Brunker, Ms. Casey, Ms. Hannelly and Mr.Brady.
