All Ireland Cross Country
A huge congratulations to our senior Boys cross country team who competed in the schools all Ireland finals this past weekend on the grounds of SETU ,Waterford.
The course was extremely tough. The boys ran an unforgiving, 6km race. 4,1.5km laps of a gruesome muddy field with a very steep incline followed by a slow steady ascent, before dropping downhill to slightly flatter part with what seemed liked never ending turns!
The lads held their own in a field of outstanding experienced cross country runners . (Including Jonas Stafford a European silver medalist, fresh back from competing in Turin on the U20 Irish team!)
It was fantastic to have the green and white singlets of St Nathy’s in the mix .
This was the first ever cross country season for our athletes , and what a fantastic season it was to reach and compete in the all Ireland’s!! Each of our team members – Jack Dodd, Kieran Taheny , Evan Powell, Maitiu Lavin and Martin Grady ran exceptionally well, they left nothing absolutely nothing behind ! The whole school community is so proud and impressed with your display of resilience and inspiring efforts.
