On Wednesday 21st of January, a group of Transition Year students visited the Ballaghaderreen Library to learn how to make St. Brigid’s crosses. Catherine Fanning, an artist and researcher with Creative Places Ballaghaderreen, demonstrated the technique. Although the students initially found it challenging, Catherine’s patience and guidance helped them quickly master the skill, and they produced some lovely crosses.

They also learned about the traditions associated with St. Brigid’s Day.  The students thoroughly enjoyed their time in the library, and we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility right on our doorstep.
