U-19 Girls Match

On Wednesday 27th November, St Nathy’s U-19 girls travelled to Dunmore Community School to face St Enda’s College from Galway. This game was the regional quarter final so the girls had to win to stay in the competition. The game tipped off at 11:15. Nathy’s girls went out with all guns blazing and started with two nice baskets from Jean Flanagan. Two more baskets from Aoibheann Durkin gave Nathy’s confidence but St Enda’s weren’t ready to give up. Two baskets made the score 8-4 to Nathy’s at the end of the first quarter.

The 2nd quarter started with a basket from St. Enda’s College but two baskets from Aoibheann Durkin increased their lead. Two more baskets from St. Enda’s and one point from Rebecca Finan made the halftime score 13-10 to Nathy’s. The 3rd quarter started well with 2 baskets at both ends from both Ellen and Jean Flanagan. Things went downhill from there as St. Enda’s got seven points without response. The score was 17-21 to St. Enda’s at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter was when the game really slipped out of hands.

Enda’s got 12 points and Nathy’s got none!

The final score was 33-17 to St. Enda’s who progress to the semi-finals.

Unfortunately the girl’s season is over, hard luck girls but they had a very good season.
