Ballaghaderreen U-15 Community Games Girls Badminton Team
Ballaghaderreen Badminton Clubs U-15 Community Games girls badminton team represented Connacht at this year’s All-Ireland Finals last August in Athlone.. In a dominant display they defeated Monaghan 3-0 in the semi-final to go forward to meet the much-fancied favourites Kildare in the final.
The final was a close fought affair with Kildare taking the first singles match. However Ballagh fought back well to take the second singles and so it was down to the doubles to decide the outcome of the match. Ballagh were quick to start taking the first set in rapid style, however Kildare came back to narrowly win the second. It was all down to the third and final set and Ballagh regained their confidence and style to convincingly take the third set. So, gold for Ballaghaderreen.
A fit and rewarding result for this girls team who put in a phenomenal effort training twice a week since February. Proof once again that results will always follow hard work!
