St. Nathy's School Policies
- Effective: September 2007
SUPERVISED EVENING STUDY
Conditions For Attendance:
All students who have been offered a place
at evening study are subject to the following conditions. Attendance
implies acceptance of these conditions.
It is expected that all students registered for
study will attend both study periods. If parents wish their son / daughter
to attend just one study period each evening, the school should be informed
once-off of this pattern. Parents of students who usually attend both
study periods must inform the school office before 5:00pm if a student
will not be attending either or both study sessions that evening. Notes
are to be discouraged as, in the past, they have been forged.
Students who attend study infrequently risk having
their fees partially reimbursed and their seats at study re-assigned.
Students who are found to have mitched a study
period will face immediate withdrawal of study facilities and will not
receive reimbursement of study fees paid.
Talking, eating, drinking, passing books / copies
is not permitted. Students who prove to be disruptive and a distraction
to others will have an automatic five-night suspension from evening
study imposed. Should problems continue to arise the student will face
an indefinite suspension from study.
For security reasons all entrances to the school
buildings are locked upon commencement of study. Students who arrive
late risk being locked out and may be deemed as being absent without
permission.
Students who smoke or litter the grounds going
to or from study will be subject to indefinite suspension from study
as will those who engage in unruly behaviour.
Where demand for study exceeds the number of places
available (this is particularly the case for the period January – June)
selection will be as follows:
- First come basis for students who have assisted
the College with its voluntary contribution requested at the beginning
of the school year. Please note that students attending study
during the first term will not automatically have a place reserved
for them after Christmas.
- Exam students (Leaving & Junior Cert.) who
are, at present attending study.
- All other students who may wish to attend.
As the costs associated with the provision
and administration of evening study are similar to last year’s i.e.
the price for the pre and post Christmas terms are €150 respectively.
This represents very good value for money and, at approximately €2.00
a night, remains considerably cheaper than the price charged by other
schools offering similar facilities.
