Pope John Paul II Awards

The presentation of the Pope John Paul II Awards took place in the College Chapel on Monday 21st November in the presence of Dr Brendan Kelly (Patron and Trustee of St Nathy’s College) and Mr Barry McMahon (Supreme Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbanus who sponsor the awards in 23 dioceses throughout Ireland. 19 students from 5 schools, including 2 students from St Nathy’s College (Ciarán Lavin and Meaveen Greene) received a medallion and certificate of achievement from Bishop Kelly.

The students received their awards for engaging in voluntary activities in their home parishes in support of the mission of the local church to build up the Kingdom of God on earth.

Well done to all the students who received an award and especially Meaveen and Ciarán. Sincere thanks to all those who helped organise the event, in particular Fr Joseph Gavigan (P.P. Ballaghaderreen) and Ms Kathryn O’Dowd (R.E. Faculty, St Nathy’s College).
